(Transition National Gathering 2017!)
Transition US, national hub of the global Transition Towns Movement, is a nonprofit working at a grassroots level to support local communities across the country to build resilience.
Over nearly a decade, we've served to catalyze and strengthen a national network of over 160 citizen-powered groups who are building community resilience through direct local action.
Our work now, in this eleventh hour, is to bring this movement together and truly scale up our work in Transition -- while there is still time. Real people are coming together locally to transform their communities, with projects creating food security, green energy, new economies and more -- and Transition US is here to serve and connect this movement.
This fall, we have been offered a generous dollar-for-dollar matching grant that will double the impact of each donation we receive (up to $25,000) by December 31st.
The first $5,000 we raise here (which will be matched and doubled to $10,000) will go directly to fund our first-ever Transition US National Gathering, slated for summer 2017 in a central location. Funds raised here will help to secure an event venue, create a stellar program, and provide scholarships to make this gathering fully inclusive and accessible to a wide community representing diverse backgrounds and experiences.
This National Gathering will be an opportunity for this growing movement to connect, share ideas and resources, build strategy and relationships, and take our work to the next level. It will also be a chance to introduce more people to the ideas behind Transition, including a critical analysis of our economy and a growing body of people-powered solutions. It will be energizing, inspiring, and just what we need right now -- and we need your help to make it happen.
